I’m Judy Miller, and Friendly Neighborhood Law Office LLC is my solo practice.

As a first-year student at Harvard Law School, I already knew that a career at a big corporate firm would not be for me… but I didn’t know yet what would be for me.

The next summer, I came back home to St. Louis to intern in the Consumer Unit at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. For three months I worked with clients whose homes were in foreclosure, who’d been sued by debt collectors, and who’d been ripped off by shady used-car lots. I saw firsthand the toll that consumer debt problems take on real people. I also saw how a good lawyer can help solve those problems. I knew I had found my calling.

I graduated from Harvard Law School with honors in 2011, then spent a year clerking for a judge on the Supreme Court of Missouri. Since then, I’ve devoted my career to representing consumers in all kinds of ways. I’ve filed Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. But I’ve also defended consumers in debt collection lawsuits in state courts. And I’ve sued companies in federal courts for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and other federal consumer protection laws.

St. Louis has always been home. I grew up in Eureka and Union, and graduated from Greenville University. I’ve lived in the Central West End, Cherokee Street, and Dutchtown, and I’ve worked in East St. Louis. I spend my spare time hanging out with my senior schnauzer citizen Charlie, running in Tower Grove Park, and wandering about neighborhoods in and out of the City taking pictures.
